Gotra, Italy.
Aldo Cacchioli
I am a self taught, London based artist.
The majority of my work is created at my home studio using photos and sketches taken from my worldwide travels.
Born in Paddington, London of Italian parents.
I was educated at St Edwards Convent, Marylebone and then at Cardinal Vaughan Grammar School, Kensington, London.
I am still close to my family roots and work a lot in Italy during the summer months.
First inspired by the early English water-colourists and later by the Italian Machiaioli and other early Italian Impressionists. I paint in a realist- impressionistic style and enjoy using both detailed and loose passages in my work.
Having worked in watercolour for many years and experimented with various media I now mostly paint in oil on linen or wood panel.
My work is eclectic. Rather than paint to a style or genre I let whatever motif inspires me on the moment dictate the subject.
With my land and seascapes I tend to work quickly whereas with urban and figurative subjects I try to be more structured and give much thought before I start. Occasionally I enjoy the challenge of creating allegorical or abstract and POP ART images.
This website is intended to showcase examples of my artwork.
Hope you will enjoy
